What to get my math teacher?

I feel like I should get a present for my math teacher because he wrote my rec and because I got something for my other teacher rec. I was thinking maybe a book, but in Harry Potter, Dumbledore says something about having a big library because everyone keeps giving him books when all he really wants is a good pait of socks. He’ll probably get a kick out of it if I get him a pair of socks and make that reference, unless it’s been done already. So any suggestions?

a nice box of belgian chocolates can’t hurt.

more importantly, include a card and write him a nice, genuine thank you note.

Starbucks giftcard! Teachers love these kind of things.

Were you accepted anywhere ED/EA? I always think its nice when a student gives his or her teacher something affiliated with the school. Just my two cents.

LOL! At S’s school, many kids got in EA into the same colleges. The GCs and teachers might end up with several mugs of the same design. Not such a bad idea. Still,
my S gave math-related books to his teachers.

Ooh I never thought about that! My kids high school was not exactly the most ivy-league producing! And almost no one did early decision/action.

Good point though Marite :)

Well, this year, 6 kids got into Harvard EA. And I know for sure that 4 of these kids have the same GC.

just don’t buy a gift card from stores in which teacher would have to put in extra money to buy stuff !

I believe the greatest gift my child ever gave to his teacher was in the 5th grade, when he made a donation to a local charity in the name of his Gifted & Talented supervisor. She was an incredibly spiritual woman and cried when she opened the ‘gift’.

If they are the non-materialistic type, try that!

i have never given a gift to any of my professors/teachers… I guess i just never had any need to do so. i did give tracey (one of my professors)'s daughter two harley davidson shirts during one of my presentations the other week… i was giving them out as prizes to people who volunteered during our presentation and i ended up with two left at the end. tracey says that she really likes the shirts and always wears them around the house. (they are way too big for her… she’s like 9). i actually offered them to my prof, i know she is a big harley fan, but she said they weren’t her size.
