What to Major in?

I am an incoming undergraduate to the University of Miami. I have a strong academic background with a 5.4 weighted GPA, 4.0 unweighted GPA, 1400 on my SAT, and ranked at #1 in my class. Unfortunately my parents would not let me leave South Florida for university despite the fact that I want to major in petroleum engineering. I genuinely like the subject and am not just interested for the awesome salary (although it does help). Anyways I was wondering in what engineering should I major in in order to be able to transfer to a school with petroleum engineering in two years (like the UT or LSU or Texas A&M). UM offers mechanical, electrical, aerospace, industrial, environmental, architectural, biomedical, and civil engineering. Or should I just wait it out for four years and later get a masters in petroleum engineering. If so, still what should I major in for now? Also what should i do to ensure the greatest chances of getting into UT and the other schools in two/four years?

Go to the academic portion of UT/LSU/A&M and see what courses of study are needed for Petroleum Engineering. See how those classes match up with the ones offered at Miami. My guess would be mech, ce or industrial but it may be a mix.
