We’ll be going for a visit and since that’s all we have planned I’d like to explore the area and find some good places to eat.

Trip advisor has very mixed reviews on restaurants.

Tell me your favorite place for lunch and dinner and if there is anything we should make sure we see while there.

I loved Niffer’s. Mama Goldberg’s is sort of a campus institution. Lemonade at Toomer’s Corner Drugs is a must, of course.
Country BBQ - stay far, far away.
It’s been quite a while since I was able to get to Auburn, though.

My favorite place for a nice dinner is Maestro 2300. We took the whole family for graduation and it was wonderful. It is in Auburn, but not downtown – I would guess a 10 minute drive or less from Toomer’s Corner.

If you want to walk from campus, I would recommend Hamilton’s for either lunch or dinner. I’ve also had a good dinner at Zasu Gastropub which is right downtown near Hamilton’s. Although not my favorite, Amsterdam’s is very popular and is often recommended as one of the places to go. My son likes it more than I do.

For a sandwich at lunch, go to Mama Goldberg’s.

I’m such a new Auburn parent I feel funny answering but since this board doesn’t move much I’ll give you the little info I have on places to eat. When visiting his senior year we would stay at the Hilton Garden Inn and there is an excellent italian restaurant next door called Venditoris or something like that - they had the best food and service…in fact my family took my son and a few of his band mates out there for dinner after the WEstern Carolina game and the service was still excellent with a party of 10.

Also, will 2nd Niffers for a good local burger joint - we have to eat after band practice and before the pep rally so look for good and quick…they did the job.

Every place else we ate was a chain. I can honestly say that Auburn has the happiest people I’ve ever met!
