What to send my S for his birthday?

Here it is again, my S’s bday coming up and I’m racking my brain for ideas. He’s turning 25, makes plenty of money, and is not very materialistic.

I thought I would send him a dessert. I sent something years ago and it seemed to be a hit. One year I sent oranges from Florida and he wasn’t impressed. He also travels a lot so if it could be something that could be thrown in the freezer that would be great.

His favorite desserts are key lime pie and tiramisu. Any idea where I could order one of these and you would recommend it was yummy.

I know we have lots of ideas of food to send and I’m asking another. Sorry but I’m a little stumped. I looked at Cheesecake Factory but the shipping is really high but maybe it’s normal for this kind of thing, I don’t have much experience.

Go to YELP and research bakeries or restaurants where he lives. They should be able to help you.

I recently ordered some Georgetown cupcakes online for my daughter in D.C. and found out that they actually ship to any state. If you do a search on YouTube, some people have even posted videos of opening up the package to perfect cupcakes that have managed to survive shipment because of their unique packaging.

Why do that when he might have a cupcake ATM right out his door? :)

^OMG musicamusica. Is that for real? And the real question… are the cupcakes good?

For real. Are they good? They are epic. And there is much debate as to who started the great cupcake revolution. Sprinkles-LA or the Magnolia bakery in NYC?

I second searching on Yelp for a bakery in his area that will deliver. I’ve done this twice for S2 and it’s worked out well.

This restaurant’s Key Lime Pie is delicious, and they ship everywhere!

My wife regularly (2 or 3 times per year) bakes brownies, packs them up in a small box (sometimes a tin), takes them to the post office and spends $18 to mail them priority to our son in Boston. Then she tracks the package and calls him to make sure he received them. They usually travel well and disappear quickly.

I usually bake cookies (chocolate chips, peanut butter) wrap them back to back 2 at a time in cellophane and ship 2-day USPS. They arrive still fresh and good.

I have ordered from Williams Sonoma before for more fancy dessert or savory dishes. They are on the pricey side but always got good reviews. Recently, I ordered David’s cookies cheesecakes from Costco and they are also well received. Cheaper than Williams Sonoma too. They have other options like cake & cookies.

Thanks for all the great ideas. Trying to think of something different so love all the ideas.

My S’s b-day was 2/14. He’s 26 and is currently deployed to the Middle East. He’s a fitness freak so no junk food for him. He reads constantly so I sent him an Amazon Gift Card. It’s something I know he will like and use. Talked to him today. He finished 5 books in the last ten days so was happy to get the gift card.

I’ve gotten Groupons for these cookies and sent to my son. Cute presentation and he says they taste good. They often have sales or specials. Looks like Birthday Cookies are on sale.
