Kid took SAT once and ACT once.
Not sure what to submit. Chasing merit scholarships…
SAT1540 - Math 800, Eng 740
ACT composite 34, but:
Math 32, Science 34, Eng 34, Reading 36.
Should submit both?
Self report both?
Officially report one and self-report another?
What do you think?
What school list ? Any auto merit schools ?
I’d likely lean the 1560 due to the math score but it helps to know the list.
At an auto merit like Alabama, as an example, with a qualifying gpa you’d get $28k with either.
In addition to what schools, what’s the intended major(s)?
Major- business and finance related.
Alabama is on the list. It is 1540, not 1560.
In many cases, scores from two distinct sources can substantiate each other, even if one may be “higher” than the other. However, in this situation, considering aspects such as the distribution of this student’s ACT section scores, I’d suggest submitting the SAT results only.
Deleted.
So auto schools like ole miss, UAH, miss state, UMN, and more it won’t matter.
For variable schools - a U of S Carolina, I’d do the SAT
Either is likely ok but for finance at schools that check, that are variable, the 800 is better.
And yes what @momsearcheng said the SAT is higher - I was just checking as well.
Concordance tables suggest that 1540 SAT is in the 35 ACT range. So it is likely that that 1540 SAT is slightly better than the 34 ACT unless the college uses its own concordance that favors the ACT, or looks at sections and favors the English / reading over the math section.
If the college has published tables of merit by score, you can check which is more advantageous at that college.
Unintended, had posted before fully reviewed. Post appears as intended now.
I thought that I read it wrong
But I believe I read somewhere that some schools mix/superscore ACT and SAT
Fair point - you can report both and let them decide.
I’d probably just submit the SAT. Technically your 70 E+R in the ACT is equivalent to a 750 ERW (740 is a 69), but that is such a minor difference I really doubt it adds anything.
And then of course the 800 in Math is a 36 for the ACT, so way higher. Would they hold that against you? Probably not. But again personally I would just go with the equivalent of a 36/69, not mess around with the 32/70.
