What do women graduates usually wear? I am used to June dresses, and not sure what the attire would be in winter. I assume the whole event is indoors?

This from the invite my daughter forwarded to me

Believe it or not, the end of the semester will be upon us soon. The last day of classes will give way to reading period, formals, and finals, and before you know it, we will all be wrapping up our time together at Harvard.

In order to get a jump-start on the celebration, the Senior Class Committee invites you to join us for the 2014–15 Midyear Graduates Recognition Ceremony. This event will be a chance for your blockmates, friends, and family to gather to celebrate your accomplishments as a November or March graduate. We hate to see you go, but we are honored to consider you a part of the 2015 family. So let’s celebrate together!

They can walk in May in cap and gown.

For nicer events in the winter, a good-looking coat is in order because you end up keeping it on most of the time. I would wear a pair of tailored pants (wool crepe) and a blouse or sweater, with a knee-length dressy wool coat. A mid-heel pump or boots for walking comfort would be best. You can keep the colors fairly neutral and add a pretty scarf for warmth and color.
