Okay, my Tuft’s interviewer wants to interview at her house, and this is my first interview of that kind. I am really interested in this school, so I don’t want to give off a bad impression. My past couple interviewers were at Starbucks, etc, and I wore the dress shirt/sweater/khakis combo, since it is chilly over here. Is that what I should wear? Or should I go with a dress shirt and tie, or even more formal? Thanks.

Your Starbucks outfit sounds perfect.

My D had a house interview. She wore blue pants and a sweater. I told her to wear nice socks in her boots and prepare to take them off if the interviewer had no shoes on. Interviewer had slippers on and D took her boots off at the door. Hopefully this showed respect for their house rules. We have a lot of snow on the ground up here in New England. It is pretty common to leave boots at the door when visiting others homes.
Interviewer was really nice and they had a great conversation.

In Minnesota, you would never ever think of keeping on your shoes when you go into someone’s house. Front Foyers can look like DSW shoe store when you have a bunch of kids over. So yes, nice socks are a must.
