What to Wear...

Neurotic… seems to me the College Confidential thong is the second most appropriate undergarment to wear to an admissions event…next to your School Pride Wear thong of course

Maybe this needs to merge with the “are they aware” thread.
Are your kids aware that you are discussing there underpants on an open forum? ;)

Just checked with my D who is very involved in the fashion scene at the “most fashionable” ivy

She says that very tight, shorter pants are exclusively worn by gay guys, so “if I want S to be mistaken for gay, they’ll be perfect for him.” Otherwise, a normal length pant with a straight leg is what most guys wear.

I’m 22 and never heard of 90% of these brands :o

Jude Law likes to wear those skinny chino mankles. I think it should be renamed to PeeWee Herman pants but I don’t think that is good marketing strategy.

This has become the “Dressing (Even) Young[er]” thread. …

Far be it from me to question a fashionable girl at the most fashionable Ivy…but heterosexual men DO wear skinny pants. Not at the most fashionable Ivy mind you…but here in So Cal and in NYC. I advise the OP to learn from your peers in NYC and discover your own identity. Do not be put off by warnings re your implied sexual orientation.
Besides, many of my gay friends have a fabulous sense of style. Nothing wrong with that.

I think Gourmetmom is talking about skinny, mankle pants and not skinny jeans or casual pants that cover your ankles.

Yes, lots of straight guys wear skinny pants. The combination with the above the ankle length is less common. There are plenty of rolled up, just a tad above the ankle, pants on the Ralph Lauren website. The shoes are highlighted that way.

Okay, I did go with lower-cut undies for fashionista D. She is fine as long as DH doesn’t see her with her belly showing. But no way am I getting S into a thong. He will proudly sport his undie-tops (shudder). Thank goodness for long shirts and blazers.

S has always been husky in a tight-end-not-offensive-line kind of way. So fitting isn’t easy.

I don’t care what sort of pants she is talking about. Though I was throwing mankle pants into that mix as to what heterosexual men wear .The whole. “it will make you look gay” makes my flesh crawl.

Really Musica? Trying to twist what was intended to be a lighthearted comment that in no way disparaged anyone is what is actually offensive.

Thank goodness classic never goes out of style.

I thought the trend, as set by Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, was to go without entirely?

“She says that very tight, shorter pants are exclusively worn by gay guys, so “if I want S to be mistaken for gay, they’ll be perfect for him.” Otherwise, a normal length pant with a straight leg is what most guys wear.”

Gosh, I wonder if my son’s gf knows.

Hmmm wonder if my boyfriend knows he’s gay. Should probably tell him.

[levis slim fit jeans - Google Search](http://www.google.com/search?q=levis+slim+fit+jeans&hl=en&tbo=u&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ei=I6sFUb6sE6bH0QGx4oHwBQ&ved=0CFoQsAQ&biw=768&bih=928&sei=JK0FUf-sLqq10QGl64HoAw)

Here’s some Levi images…for all guys

My S would only wear Levi’s 511’s for years - and he is not stick-skinny at all. They look surprisingly good on boys who actually have butts. Except for the whole fitting-the-waist thing, as complained about earlier.

Lorem, if my kids want to go commando, they can buy their own.

Just a comment… here in Portland, tight skinny-ankled pants are worn by a lot of people who commute by bicycle. Nothing to get caught in the gears.

So skinny jeans have been in fashion in Portland forever? Did Portland start the trend?
