<p>Hello! I am currently a sophomore in high school. I will list my current class schedule, ACT scores, and extracurriculars. Based on the information I provide, I would love to receive some feedback on what I should do to improve my chances at schools like the “Ivies.” Thank you for your time :)</p>
<p>Freshman Year Schedule:
Intro to biomedical sciences
(I would like to discuss this class option. In my county, we have a vocational school. We take a core class related to future occupations and two core classes. I have chosen the biomedical science career path. This class must be taken before I reach the actual vocational school. It is by PLTW STEM. In this, I learned anatomy and more information tailored to this career path.)
Choir
(Class MUST be taken before advanced choir)
Honors Social Studies
(Had to test into. It was the only honors social studies offered. It worked in tandem with the block class english class, meaning what we learned in social studies was in correlation to what we learned in english. For example, while studying “The Republic” we learned the basic principles of a successful government)
Honors Physics
(In order to go to the vocational school I talked about, you could only be a year ahead in math. I was two years ahead. This was taken to get me back on the one year track. It was the exact structure as AP physics except we were not given the chance for AP testing.)
French One
(We can only take foreign language in high school)

*I would like to mention an interesting component of this class. Alongside with curriculum, we are also tasked with a YLP (Year long project) that correlates with our material. We have to write a grant, make two presentations, execute an experiment, and report the findings. I am doing the Tensile Strength of sutures with a partner. It is completely outside of class.</p>
<p>ACT/PSAT/SAT/GPA</p>
<p>I have taken the ACT twice: once in 7th grade and once in the summer before sophomore year. I received a 21 and 25. I know I can improve and I fully plan on doing so before the time comes.</p>
<p>I received a 23 on the EXPLORE.</p>
<p>I have not received my scores from the PSAT.</p>
<p>4.0 GPA both years</p>
<p>Extracurriculars:
I have many extracurriculars; however, I will only post the ones from high school.</p>
<p>Music:
*Qualified for KYACDA, a state choir.

<p>Drama:
*Since elementary school, I have been in 17 plays/ musicals. I have been the leads/ supporting roles in the majority. In high school, I have had a speaking role in every show I have auditioned for (Which is all of them :)) I have also been in community theatre and in a professional theatre.
*Gifted & Talented in Drama (& language arts)
*Female representative on the Gifted & Talented advisory board for drama
*Treasurer for Drama Club
*Annual participant in reading stories to toddlers at public library
*Apprenticed for two weeks at a leading theatre’s children’s classes. Approx. 80 hours total. I was a student teacher. I taught a total of 3 classes.
*For two years I have auditioned and been part of a class at the professional theatre. You meet once a week for 3 hours to delve deeper into theatre. We are currently studying scenic, costume, and lighting design. We plan to mount our own shows. This class requires 30 hours of volunteer work at the theatre. I accomplish this by ushering and other tasks.
*I have taken too many classes to mention to better the individual craft of theatre for myself. Theatre is my life. I do whatever I can to better myself for theatre.
*I am also in the works for providing drama classes for our special needs students. I was a peer tutor in junior high, so I know many of the students. I think it’s an excellent way to give back.
Government:
*Treasurer for our Y Club.
*Have participated in two mock governments
*At one of the state mock governments, I participated in a senior dominated moot court. In this, you prepare a 15 min presentation. There are lawyers, attorneys, and student supreme court justices. We won both of our cases and as a sophomore I was chosen to be one of the 6 supreme court justices. Approx. 60-70 were in the program, and sophomores have never been chosen.
