I know about the deans list and NSCS. What else is there?
That’s all you get.
You get a pony.
My school has awards for having a 4.0 in your first semester and for keeping it for your first three semesters, but I am sure that will vary widely by school.
I got a certificate of commendation from phi beta kappa for getting any grade lower than an A- my freshman year (did not have a 4.0 but only got one A- each semester), as well as making All A’s list (higher level dean’s list). Phi Beta Kappa also gives out a Book Award at my university to the students with the highest GPA after sophomore year (didn’t receive that one). Not exclusively for 4.0, but you can get invited to various honor societies for having a high GPA, such as Phi Eta Sigma, Golden Key, Phi Beta Kappa, etc.
Nothing
The physics department displays a plaque with your name if you do it through graduation. There’s like 3 students since they started
Nothing haha
At Bama, kids who graduate with a 4.0 get to wear a red cap instead of black at graduation.
A feeling of satisfaction.
A great education
A nice looking transcript.
I treated myself to a weekend vacation with my then-boyfriend, does that count?
But from the uni, nothing. Something that said I made honors or something for 3.5+ GPA.
What did you want?
My daughter does dual enrollment - from college she got an email that said congratulations you made dean’s list. To be honest she already knew her grades so the email was meaningless to her.
Dean List, President’s Honor Roll? I want the pony.
My mother and grandparents were pleased. I appreciated every idea and morsel I could ring out of each class. I got a sense of relief because I had succeeded in a new academic environment. I knew I was ready to roll academically. I don’t study and work for trinkets by others. Since I a responsible, recognizing I did well because I studied, thought and took advantage of every opportunity to learn more.
Spare me the pony. I would never turn down a visit to Baskin Robbins, That’s more celebratory than rewarding.

You get accepted to grad school much more easily, sometimes with very good merit based FA (which can be worth a LOT of money in the long run).
My daughter just got a letter from the Office of Academic Affairs. I was thinking “this can’t be good” and was worried that she’d done something wrong, was going to lose a scholarship, was suspended. Nope, just on the “Provost’s list” for last semester.
That letter and $2.30 will get her a coffee at Starbucks.
