What type of financial aid is there available at the UC system?

<p>What type of aid is there available at the UC system? The community college I am currently attending offers a fee waiver that covers the cost of the courses one takes. Is there an equivalent for low income students at the UC level? </p>

<p>Also, does the pell grant award increase relative to the increase in tuition?</p>

<p>Sounds like you’re a Calif student.</p>

<p>If you are then,…</p>

<p>You don’t get more Pell because the max is about $5600 and based on your EFC. Pell is fed aid. It doesn’t care that Calif charges a lot for UCs.</p>

<p>However, you will likely get a Cal Grant that covers all of your UC fees. And/or you’d qualify for the Blue and Gold promise which guarantees that your fees are covered. </p>

<p>Then you might get some more UC grants. You’d get full fed loans. You might get all or most of your costs covered by Pell, Cal Grant, UC grant, work study and student loans.</p>

<p>EFC = expected family contribution based on the income/assets of you and your parents on the FAFSA (if under 24 years old) or you (and spouse if married) if you are over 24.</p>

<p>You have to file FAFSA and get a low EFC in order to get some Pell grant.</p>
