What type of restaurant is PIZZA HUT in the US?

Hi all.

Just a quick question: What kind of restaurant-type is PIZZA HUT in the US?
Low-class fast food (like McDonald’s)? Casual, affordable quick-dining? Would you consider eating at Pizza Hut expensive? How do you find the atmosphere–fun?

Customer demographic: families? teens?

I’m an international student and I worked as a Pizza Hut waitress. Wrote that in my college application, so I’d just like to know how it is in the US. Thanks!

Well in India it is sortof on the higherish side of affordable for the avg middle class so frm my lifestyle research (yeah rite)! Over a summer in the us would be that it would come in somewhere between mc donalds and an um well…good restaurant

^ heh, that’s a really huge spectrum there. Between McD’s and a good restaurant! :)

A casual place that serves styrofoam encased industrial garbage. That said, I never eat at Pizza Hut.

In a majority of cities in the country, you can do much better often for less money.

It’s a bad restaurant.

Pizza Hut is a notch above McDonalds since the food is served to your table obviously. IMO, Pizza Hut targets the low-income to lower middle class families. There are too many pizzerias in the US and Pizza Hut isn’t even that great compared to them. For example, you can get cheaper pizza from CiCi’s and it is a buffet. For higher class pizza, you can get California Pizza Kitchen, UNO’s, and regular Italian restaurants.

However, Pizza Hut serves the middle class imo when it comes to international franchises. Since it is located in another country, the franchises have to pay a royalty fee which can cost a lot of money. Since they have to pay a royalty fee, the pizzas tend to cost a lot compared to the ones in the US. In Korea, a large cheese pizza costs like $20-$25 if I recall. You can get a better pizza in the US for $20-$25… and it will be a specialty pizza like buffalo chicken… :-/
