What type of student gets a 30K scholarship and above!!?!! i need to know!

that’s right…>$30,000!!! i’m really curious to know…is this normal among places that offer financial aid or does it take a lot competition to get this type of scholarship money?

<p>My D has received an offer from a major university that is $22,000 merit and $10,000 need for a total of $32,000. They are well known for giving out good financial aid packages.She is no genius but does have an SAT over 1350, top 10% of her class, 10 APs and good ECs. I do think that it is important to tailor your applications to those schools where you will be the top of their applicant pool rather than the bottom or middle.</p>

<p>Scholarship to where? Getting a scholarship to Auburn is a quite a bit easier than getting merit aid from Caltech.</p>

<p>yeah which university? b/c thats like recruiting if you have great stats and apply to a lower school they will give you more money unlike a highly praised school.</p>

<p>Harvard gives only need-based aid. It doesn’t give merit aid nor does it give things like stipends. If your friend is going to Harvard with that kind of $, he got it from outside merit aid.</p>

<p>i got $44k over four to the university of dallas. none of it is need based</p>

<p>i know about 3 kids who got 38k to dartmouth for need since they don’t give out merit based scholarships. but these people aren’t poor or anything, but they are 1st generation immigrants…and i know one of them lied on their financial aid apps.</p>

<p>I got 8k in federal grants and 32k in awards from Washington University in St. Louis.</p>
