You need to take three SAT II’s, writing, mat ic or iic, and a third subject. Legacy’s don’t matter because UC’s are public schools. If you’re a senior this year, the deadline already passed, it was Nov. 30. It’s harder to get into UC’s form out of state because of the budget crisis and the more californians applying every year.

ohhh… snap!

I wouldn’t recommend applying to any of the UC’s if your out of state. Out of state tuition is not worth it. I would recommend to take your money elsewhere like at Carnegie Mellon, USC, NYU, Northwestern, John Hopkins, etc.

^ Its worth it for lots of out of state people.

I know peeps who turned down Columbia and Cornell engineering to go to UCSD Engineering. They wanted to come to California that bad. Until you traveled and lived elsewhere, its hard to understand why they want to come here so bad.

I don’t think u have much of a shot at Cal or UCLA unless u can raise ur SAT and SAT II scores. I would definitely give UCSD a shot though. UCSD has the best campus out of all the UC’s in my opinion, and its right next to the beach.

Your SAT score is definitely competitve for Berkeley and UCLA. It’s above the average for crying out loud. California_Pride is being too pessimistic. If you didn’t get into BOTH Berkeley and UCLA I will eat my own face.

Are u kidding? The average SAT score for Berkeley and UCLA, you have to add 40-50 points because it uses a one sitting policy. How many times have u read that by now? Out of staters are probably accepted at the same SAT score Asian Americans are accepted at.

Fine, I want to see you eat your own face. Berkeley rejected over 600 people with 1540+ SAT Scores last year.

/</p>

Where did you get that from? Not that I’m saying you’re wrong, but just want to know where you read that. Just seems a bit unrealistic. Even though you’re out of state, you have a decent shot at Cal if you have at least 650+ on all SAT II’s. Hopefully you wrote a great essay, because you’re gonna need it.

Remember that Berkeley uses best one sitting SAT score. That means you have to add 40-50 points to make it the same as private schools Best Verbal + Best Math score.

Not everyone takes the SAT more than once. The people who do are probably the students at the borderline. I doubt many students at the top Ivies, etc are taking the SAT more than once. And Cal routinely accepts many sub 1200 students. rejecting 1500s is just yield protection at its finest

“Berkeley officials say many of the rejected students with high SATs had relatively low grade-point averages.”

That says it all. When somebody with a 2.0 GPA but a 1600 SAT score applies, I’d reject that kid too. Also, you have to understand that Berkeley probably rejects 1500+ students because the admissions committe is afraid the students are going to enroll at better colleges like Stanford, Harvard, or MIT and were just using Berkeley as a safety. It’s just like what nyusternman said.

^ umm no man. Read the next paragraph my illiterate friend.

score:

12 to 2 in favor of Berkeley

(You got one point for being a Bay Area fan)

Since when was Dance Dance Revolution an extracurricular?

UCB: Slight Reach (out of state)
UCLA: Slight Reach (out of state)
UCSD: Match (out of state)

UC admissions are too unpredictable.

i think u should sterngthen those EC’s a little bit and get good SAT II scores then ull have a good chance with UCLA and UCB… but remember… u can never be too sure about getting in

I think its only worth to pay out of state tuition if u go to ucla ,CAL ,and ucsd. Try applying to other uni like caltech and usc in case.

hey mel wazz up sowwie i have no answer for ya i don’t feel like reading all these other commets i read wht u wrote and u’ve not been a Stu Co Treasurer.

haha since when is DR an extracurricular, well at our special hs (i go to the same one as crzybacardi) it is one, we have nothing else to do
