I got rejected from all the UC’s except Merced so I figured I might as well do community college and try to transfer into a good UC. I’ve come to find that Davis is the only good UC that offers guaranteed transfer admission. Does anyone know if UCLA or UCB has anything similar to guaranteed admission? I spoke to one of my cousins who said she’s attending community college in Berkeley and has already been offered gurenteed admission to UCB even though she’s still a freshman at her community college. How is this possible if UCB dosent offer gurenteed admission. Is there any possible way to gain guarenteed admission to UCLA or UCB?
There are programs such as TAP that give you higher chances, but there’s no guaranteed admission for UCLA, UCSD, or UCB. I think you should give a closer look to other UCs such as UCI or UCSB; depending on your major, they can be just as “good” as Davis.
UCB does not offer guaranteed admission. Neither do UCD or UCLA (although UCLA’s TAP program gives you priority consideration).
UCSB, UCSC, UCI, UCM, UCR, and UCD all offer guaranteed. It’s the TAG program (some majors are excluded).
Your friend may possibly be doing UCB’s TAP (different than UCLA’s). It does not give priority or a guarantee.
Neither do *UCSD
Ah, right. Typo on my end. Thx for correction, @jason861101. In first line I meant UCSD, not UCD.
UCSD offers guaranteed admission, but only to San Diego county community college and high school students. Its not TAG it’s U-Link
Yeah your cousin is misguided. Like other posters have said, UCB and UCLA offer TAP, which pretty much just increases your chances of acceptance, though they are very different for each school. For Cal, it is only for low income, veteran, URM, or first generation college students (as far as I know). As far as the way it actually affects your chances, it seems like most people aren’t entirely sure, but apparently it somehow increases your odds. It’s difficult to find concrete information on this. UCLA TAP is much more straight forward. Pretty much you just participate in your college’s TAP honors program and you get priority for UCLA transfer. If you want to go to UCLA, you should look for a cc that offers this.
I agree @music1990, it says on the UCB site their TAP does not give you priority but it certainly seems to. Especially when they give you a code to put at the top of your essays. :-S
