What undergraduate grades do I need to get from my California community college to become an MD/DO?

I’m currently taking general ed classes at a CCC, including a psychology class. I understand that the exact grade requirements vary among schools, but at this point my future is not entirely certain. I also understand that the minimum GPA for science classes is probably going to be higher than my cumulative GPA.

Is it really the grades that matter most, or the clinical experience & MCAT scores?

I do not know DO requirements, for the MD, your goal is at least 3.6 from a 4 year colleg, which may be rising as competition is getting greater every year.

Look on the med school boards Medical School applicants are assessed on grades and MCAT scores. Which matter the most depends on what they are–there is a matrix of sort, within certain ranges, and it’s not a solid line but shades of gray. Where your chances become optimal or poor, depends upon the circumstances of the year and schools to which you apply and the applicant pool . The better your GPA, the better your chances. Same with the MCATs

Check with the UC’s on how they transfer over grades. I think they will be counted on an equal footing with your 4-year college grades, and calculated into your cumulative GPA. This is really a question for a registrar at UC (or university to which you intend to matriculate) or at a medical school.

It really doesn’t matter how they transfer over grades. All college grades, even those taken as a high school student, must be reported to AMCAS and a separate transcript sent.
