<p>I am currently a sophomore in high school and i plan on spending the rest of my life in the fields of computer programming and computer science. I am curious as to what universities best fit my interests. I live in California and hope to go to a school here. I plan on finishing school with a 3.5 GPA. Any ideas?</p>
<p>Carnegie Mellon is the dream school for computer science majors. Look at schools in the San Francisco-Oakland area since the Silicon Valley tech companies are nearby.</p>
<p>University of Dayton gives good merit scholarhips and is great for computer science.</p>
<p>Purdue or if it possible John Hopkins. First one is really great for CS</p>
<p>The answers you’re getting are all over the map because there are many, many schools with good CS programs. We could probably name a few dozen in Cali alone and still miss a few.</p>
<p>No need to go OOS for CS with so many great programs in CA where you will get instate tuition at UC’s and CSU’s. Unless you have the ‘away’ desire and your parents will pay for it. Since you are only a Sophmore, you will have to wait to see your final gpa and SAT to find out where you can be accepted. Keep your grades up, especially this is the first year your grades count for UC. Plus keep a strong program in all your classes.</p>
<p>So lets say i did bad my first year in high school, but the rest of the years i get good grades. Will this effect my overall gpa. I can keep good in all my classes, plus i scored high in the CST and have all honors.</p>
