As the college application writing season is winding down and most interviews have passed, what was your favorite interview? Who/what was it with? What did you talk about and what did you learn?
My favorite interview was with an Alumna from MIT. Because I live in a really rural area, I was her only interviewee this year, and we met at a quaint coffee shop pretty far from both of us. Although my main interests are in engineering, we ended up talking about social and development economics, UBI, and wealth inequality/power. Turns out that she ran for local government and is part of an economic advisory board for Sierra club. It felt really unscripted and casual, and we talked for an hour and a half. I’m not sure I got too much greater of a sense of MIT, but she had some interesting perspectives being a woman going to the school 40 years ago in contrast to what it is today. All in all it was an awesome experience!
