what was your favorite public event of 2017?

I enjoyed watching for the birth of April the giraffe’s baby. And he was so cute.

I also enjoyed the super bowl. I don’t usually remember them at all, but that was legendary.

Watching the Solar Eclipse was my favorite positive event last year. There was a lot of excitement and camaraderie for those who were in the path of totality.

Early in the year: The Women’s March in DC. All that energy and solidarity,

The Women’s March. I’m a late bloomer when it comes to protesting!

Another vote for the Women’s March. I have participated in protests in the past including some large ones but had never seen so many people and so much positive energy! And the people were extremely friendly, kind and helpful.

Women’s March in DC!! Amazing turnout. I drove to DC with my dayghter. We stayed with family friends who went to the March as well. Great energy.

Ok…this is an odd one. Last year…very near the end of the season…the Cleveland Browns won ONE football game. I watched it…and was so happy they won that ONE game. I’m a lifelong browns fan…and clearly not a fair weather fan!

I don’t think they have won any games this year :frowning:

Two lucky events I got to see. Total eclipse in the path of totality in Driggs, Idaho - such a beautiful setting for an amazing event. And Ed Sheeran’s small concert put on at the I Heart studio in NYC, where he played his new album songs for the very first time live. Nice notes to a strange year politically.

  1. The inauguration. Watched via social media.
  2. And every year, my favorite public event is St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Savannah!

Springsteen on Broadway.

Seeing Hamilton for the first time!

Have to agree about the Women’s March. I had never done anything like it and went alone because that’s how it worked out. I’ll remember it always and have revisited it many times in my heart when my other coping strategies wear thin.

The Super Bowl. It was the first day of our cruise. We wore our Patriot gear. So fun to watch the team come from behind! New England fans were in the minority, ha.

Women’s March in DC. Amazing. But the eclipse (even though not total here) was a great event as well.

The Classic West concert in Dodger Stadium, especially the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. I’m not a huge concert-goer but made an exception to get to this one.

Two college graduations and one from HS for our family in 2017, on the fringe of being public events but milestones for us. We’re pretty meh on pro sports.

The Women’s March. I didn’t go myself, but many of my friends did, and my son went to the one in San Francisco.

March for Science in DC. It rained, but it was great to be part of such a large group promoting science and evidence-based policy!

Seeing the total eclipse in Charleston.

Couldn’t go to the Women’s March because of knee surgery. So watching that online.
Eclipse though it wasn’t total where I was. Still pretty spectacular.
Springsteen on Broadway.
U2 Joshua Tree concert.

The Women’s March – I went to the one on Los Angeles. I’ve protested before, but have never been a part of such a huge, diverse, and motivated crowd.

The total eclipse was also great, but it was my 4th one, so I knew what to expect.
