Hi there, thought I would try an experiment (make sure to read end of post)
As a member of the Class of 2011 I have more or less successfully survived the hellish seasons of college admissions and want to wish everyone the best of luck for the next year.

A little background, I am an American citizen, however I have been raised/grown up in BC, Canada. Attended what is ranked as one of the top private schools in the province. Have to say that Canadian admissions is a completely different game than American, considering everything boils down to your marks, and nothing more than marks, + the most selective university takes about 1/2 it’s applicants I believe. As such, I have to confess to being a little naive regarding college admissions at the start (thanks go out to you guys for more or less, hopefully help remedy that somewhat). What I’m curious is, given the stats below, where you guys think I would have ended up.

Stats:

SAT I or ACT: 2250 (800 M, 760 CR, 690 W) (8 on essay) - 1 sitting

SAT IIs: 800 Math 2, 760 Bio E and M (yea took both… same result), 760 Lit, 710 Physics - 2 sittings

GPA: Don’t do GPA around here… say around 95+%

Rank: Top 3% - only ranking school gives, but received award as top male academic student last year (note that top 5 included one girl…). Also in Top 5 since Gr. 9

APs: None final (not available at my school until senior year) But Most Rigorous Schedule for sure.
Projected 5s on Calc BC, Bio, Lit
Projected 4s on Chem/Physics B (Sadly the Chem AP made me very happy and I’m decently sure of a 5, Physics I think it’s 60/40 for one), French

Many school awards in subject areas, i.e 1st or distinctions consistently in all subject areas

Subjective:

ECs:

Piano, violin (both with awards)

Varsity rower (bow) with some awards/club level

Student council, school prefect

Fairly prestigious summer internship at local cancer research centre, presentations at many local high schools about internship

Volunteered as teaching assistant at local learning centre

School outdoor leadership program

Debate (with regional/provincial awards)

Numerous math contest awards (i.e AMC 12 top in school)

Youth leadership award (fairly big one)

Essays: Solid

Teacher Recs: Both quite strong I believe

Counselor Rec: Good… but not brilliant I believe

Location/Person:

State: BC, Canada!!!

School Type: University Prep Private, one of top in province

Ethnicity: Asian

Gender: Male

If you want to take the time, I was wondering if you could guess where I would end up (assuming say I applied to top schools, i.e US News rankings ~ Top 15). Don’t worry I wasn’t suicidal/crazy enough to send out 15 applications (not even half that). But I thought a more “open” prediction possibility would be more interesting.
Looking to study life sciences - biochemistry.

HUGE NOTE: I am not trying to criticize the admissions process. I want to make clear that I genuinely feel I received very fair treatment, and am very happy to be headed where I am! In the abundance of chances threads, consider this a bit of a test (curious to see just how good CCer’s actually are at this).
