What were the most popular college majors over the 20th century?

I know that today we’re graduating lots of Economics, Business, Psychology, and Political Science majors. Does anyone have information on the most popular college majors of previous decades, even though college was much less popular than it is today?

This was all that I could find [Most Popular College Major - Education Bug](Education Bug - Most Popular College Major)

Look at these historical data from Yale:
[A Yale Book of Numbers: Historical Statistics of the College and University 1701 - 1976](http://www.yale.edu/oir/pierson_original.htm)

See section C-3, in particular.

Of course, the choice of majors at other schools would be different than those at Yale (e.g., one would expect a large number of business and education majors at many large public universities).

Also, some currently popular majors, e.g., interdisciplinary majors in international relations, were not as widely offered just a few years ago.

In the very early part of the 20th century, the notion of “majors” as we understand that term now was still developing. Some schools developed “majors” later than others–even as late as the second decade of the 20th century.
