<p>Hi guys,</p>
<p>I’m stressing out because it’s nearing the end of my junior year (only 4 days away!) and I haven’t figured out my situation for letters of rec.</p>
<p>My trouble is trying to figure out what will give me the strongest combination of letters of rec. Here are my options:</p>
<p>1) My junior year (AP) English teacher, knows me quite well as a student, would probably write a very nice letter about my in-class performance, dedication, writing ability, etc.</p>
<p>2) My sophomore year English teacher who also is the adviser of a club I’m VERY dedicated to this year (junior year). If I wanted to, would be able to give information about what I was like as a sophomore English student, writer, etc. but also about my leadership in the club, dedication to that. Knows me much better as a person. He seemed quite enthusiastic about writing me a letter.</p>
<p>3) A math teacher, knows me well enough. Would probably write a good enough letter. I would like her to write one because I’m interested in pursuing some sort of science/math, plus I wouldn’t just want two English teachers.</p>
<p>Here are my thoughts: AP English teacher and math teacher would be fine, but I would really feel better knowing that I had that personal connection from the sophomore English/club adviser.</p>
<p>Math teacher and Sophomore English/club adviser would be okay, but I worry that admissions people would not look kindly upon a sophomore english teacher, even if he did know/interact with me all this year. However, I’d feel okay with this option. </p>
<p>AP English teacher and math teacher + sophomore English/club advisor as a supplemental rec? This would give me the security of knowing I’ve included all of their perspectives, but 1) I’m not sure if this is how supplemental recs are supposed to be used (even if I asked him to focus on my leadership in the club/what I’m like as a person?) and 2) I’ve heard that some schools get annoyed when you have too many letters. Is this the case? Should I avoid sending all three just because of that?</p>
<p>Please let me know your thoughts. I’m very nervous both about my teachers’ deadlines and representing myself well to the selective schools I’m applying to while making sure not to annoy them!</p>
