What will you do differently?

This is a question posed to those returning to college for their sophomore, junior, or senior years: What will you do differently?

For example, will you focus more on studying and less on other things? Will you try to be more outgoing? Will you try to make more friends than you did the previous year(s)?

What are the reasons that you were unable to get these hopes and wishes implemented in previous years? How will that change this time around?

This has been my second summer where I've contemplated about the things I will do differently during the upcoming school year and reflected on my journey so far up to this point. There are many things that I would love to do differently though it is not easy. I hope this upcoming year I can try and be successful.

Enough about me. Let us hear about you :)

I'm going to do a lot more now that I understand how college works and what I'm capable of. My plan is to keep the number of credits I did my first semester [18] while adding on the internship I did second semester with a low credit count. I think I can handle both now. I also plan to work on studying more and to be more active on campus. I've actually got a decently long list of goals saved on my computer that I look at each day to remind myself of what I want to do.

I would give less hugs and take more drugs.

I only have to pass this year sooo... more socialising, new friends, doing everything and anything that I'll only have this year to do. :D with a bit of studying inbetween.

I have an apartment so I'm having parties every week. Try not to lose interest like I do at the end of each semester, even though I'm on the Dean's list I'd like to actually do as well as I am capable of.
But mostly just go out as much as possible. I slacked in that area last year from party burnout. Pace myself better.
Also work out more.

I am entering senior year. I actually have a list of 101 things I want to do before I die, which is a really fun exercise that I really recommend, and I am thinking now I may make a 50 things I want to do before graduation.

These are things that are definitely happening this year:

Instead of living in a gigantic co-ed dorm, I opted to live in a very small all-female house that has a reputation for being a bit more conservative, which may or may not be true. I also picked a single with a private bathroom instead of a double with a community bathroom like I had last year.

I am going to start a second student organization, which is already in the works, as are a few new programs from the org I founded last year.

I am going to focus less on making friends and more on studying and working on my student orgs. I want to be more focused on doing my own thing than I was last year. I suspect in doing so I will form better friendships than I had last year anyway.

I plan to work part-time as a transcriptionist so I actually have some money this year.

I plan to take better advantage of the academic resources offered on my campus.

I plan to actually get dressed in winter. My previous two years in college I had a tendency to wear sweatpants or fleece pj pants every day in the winter. When it's that gray and cold out, it's hard to care. lol.

And I am starting a new nutritional program now that I plan to keep up in college, which will be a big change from last year when I lived off of practically nothing but baked potatoes and soft serve ice cream.

I think that's it. This is a cool thread!

I plan to focus less on working and more on studying. I know I could have done WAY better those first couple of years if I hadn't have been so obsessed with working at my job. Actually, it wasn't really that I was "obsessed" with working exactly, it was just that I never paid attention when work started interfering with school. I've been considering applying for an on-campus job this year, but I'm going to work fewer hours and my schedule is going to be based around the classes I need/want- not the work hours I want.

Find a good balance between studying and social life. I did good for the first half of the semester but I found that I couldn't say no to anything so I neglected my study time towards the end of the semester and I didn't get the grades I wanted.

I'm going to change everything. I know how to manage my time well now. I even did my final project in one of my college classes on it.

I'm taking 14 credits with some classes being online and the rest are easy too. I'm going to pledge a fraternity. I'm going to probably bring a handle of Captain and another of Grey Goose for some fun (and also a case of five hour energy drinks). I know what to pack. I'm going to switch out fall clothes with winder clothes during Thanksgiving break instead of bring everything at once ( so less to pack). I need to remember an iron and lint roller. That's all I can think about now.

Now I need to write about another 12 pages for class instead of wasting time on here. :(

I want to get more out of my comfort zone and meet more new people. I love my friends dearly but sometimes I feel stuck in the same circle of friends when I want to try and do something new. This shouldn't be hard now that I am taking on a position as a cultural aide (similar to resident mentor except more focused on making friends with residents, getting them involved in extracurriculars and less on enforcing residence hall rules) and am living away from my best friends.

I also want to really crack down on my grades. I did well grade-wise the first semester of college, and then my grades have really gone downhill from there (due to apathy-especially during spring semesters, crappy gen. eds and working too much). I really need to make the grades especially since I want to apply to selective internships/grad schools in the future.

I will become more involved in the few clubs I have joined (ie volunteer more or get a leadership position)

I will drink more. 21 here I come!!! Muahahah

ANyone else?
