My reaction will probably be extremely weird. Right now, I’m not expecting to be admitted, but I still have a small shred of hope that I will be admitted. My SAT score is way below UMD’s standards, but looking at everything else you can see that I am a great, hard working person that would be an asset to any college. Anyway, I can see myself reacting in either one of two ways:

I will curl up in a ball crying for hours and maybe punch a few things such as a wall, door, etc.

I will realize that I had no chance at Maryland and focus on the other schools that I applied to.

…either way, I probably won’t take a denial lightly. UMD is my #1 and dream school in the perfect location in the second best state (PA is the best state!)! How will you react if you find out that you have been denied admission to UMD?

As bad as it seems to not get into your dream college, you will be happy where you land. If you don’t get it in, be miserable for one full day and then move on. Curse the college you didn’t get into and look for the goodness in your backup choice.

I do not have a great GPA or SAT score either, 1270/1600, so I do not think I will be getting in either, and I will be devastated if I don’t since it is my number one choice. If i do not get in I will probably win up going to Penn State since I got into Smeal. Good luck to all, hopefully we all receive good news on Monday.

I’ll probably be unhappy but it won’t take me long to get over it. I already got in to perfectly good business schools with Penn State, Pittsburgh and Ohio State(#17 undergrad business) according to USnews so i’m set. Smith is pretty hard to get into anyway but i’m hoping for the best.

@Silentkink Same here. I was accepted into Penn State’s Eberly College of Science, so I will probably go to PSU as well. Plus, PSU is my state’s school so it would be a hell of a lot less than UMD!

My son was also accepted to PSU Eberly College of Science and JMU for Physics…we are in state for UMD. He will be upset but happy to choose one of the other schools.

Nope! But Maryland is at the top a list of seven places that I want to transfer to! Penn State, UNC-CH, UCLA, UVA, UDel, and UGA are the other six. In exactly two weeks, I’ll be moving into my dorm at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA, a top 50 community college in the US! I am an honors student, future PTK member, and a SMaRT scholar, so if I keep my GPA up, then I’ll have a very good chance at Maryland and all of my other transfer institutions!
