<p>After reading the whole thread on on prestige, and seeing all the “what bs can do for me” kind of responses (with a few notable and thoughtful exceptions), I have to ask. What will you do for your boarding school?
I can’t answer, because my daughter is applying, but I am curious. How will you make your school all the better for accepting you?

<p>I want to become a volleyball player, a credit to my team. I want to be on the orchestra and be a credit to them.
I basically want to continue what I’m doing, but do it even better, and have admissions officers someday say: “You’ve heard of Saer? Famous (insert writer/psychiatrist/artist/musician, etc.)? She went here. We helped make her who she is.”</p>

<p>I realized after I posted it that it did, indeed, sound right off an application. That wasn’t my intention, just a knee jerk reaction after reading the thread on what boarding school could do for someone, down the road, career-wise. That thread got very self-centered sounding, imo, with a few good exceptions.
I don’t want anyone to feel they have to answer this. Really.</p>
<p>I was teasing, my S struggled with that question, maybe thats why it stuck out in my mind.</p>
<p>We could rephrase your question to be answered by parents…what do we want our kids achieve from BS or what will they contribute?</p>
<p>I know what I hope to GET out of my experience… I think that first, people have to develop themselves before they can start helping others.</p>
<p>I want to become confident in my abilities, relate to different people who are interested in learning. I hope I’ll become friends with the teachers, and that I’ll be mature and understanding enough to help out with the freshmen by the time I’m a
“big bad senior” as opposed to the ones that attend my current school (the type that scream FRESHMAN! and proceed to trip them or laugh). I want to learn to be a better student, person, writer, artist, scientist, environmentalist, athlete… so that when I LEAVE the school, I can contibute more to the world around me, which would in turn help the school as well :].</p>
<p>I’m bringing only myself if I get accepted, and I’ll contibute as well as I can :D.</p>
<p>Well hopefully I’ll leave as the crazy jock who loved to joke around and was friends with everyone. Thats what I want my rep to be. Also leave knowing I’ve spread awareness about education in places other than the northeast and other than America. I don’t feel like writing another essay on what ill contribute lol.</p>
