What would be a good foundational/safety/back-up school for me?

Just some background information (I got this from all those accepted/rejected/deferred threads):

GPA: 3.97 (unweighted) 4.33 (weighted)
SAT I: Critical Reading 790, Math 740, Writing 800
SAT II: Chem 740, US History 770, Math 2 790
AP’s: Chemistry 3, Chinese 4, Psych 5, APUSH probably 5 (comes out in July), Calc AB probably 5 (comes out in July), LangComp probably 4/5 (comes out in July)
Senior Year Course Load: AP English Lit, AP Stats, AP Bio, Government, Econ Honors

My guidance counselor has given me a really limited list of safety schools for me, and I’m not sure how to research this on my own. Any tips/suggestions would be awesome!

Alabama

Would need to know more about your family financial situation and what you are interested in studying. Your senior year course load could be stronger with multi-variable Calc instead of stats. Very strong SAT, AP scores seem low in comparison. Did you self study for Chem? Probably 95 percent of four year colleges would be a safety given your stats

Unless a GC has intimate knowledge of your family’s financial situation, she may not really know what schools are safeties for you. Most GCs can only tell you which schools will likely accept you. They often do NOT know if the school will be affordable for you.

Safeties have to be affordable and most do not give great need-based aid.

How much will your family pay each year?

What is your major and career goal?

Northeastern and Boston University. You would be in the running for their full tuition scholarships. Nut you would need to show interest.

What do you want to study, and what are some characteristics you want in the college (big/small, rural/urban, location, etc.) Also what can you afford to pay per year?

About the financial situation, my family comes from a rather affluent area, and extended family has saved up a lot of money (I’m currently the only kid in the family who will be going to college any time soon) so it shouldn’t be a problem.

Also, about my AP scores (I’m sure there will be a lot of questions on them  ) all of the ones currently listed are ones I self-studied for. Obviously, I probably should have actually taken a class for AP Chem LOL. My school doesn’t allow AP’s in sophomore year, so I had to do all of them on my own :frowning: The ones that are coming out in July will probably have better scores considering I actually took AP classes for them.

I’m still deciding on my major, but I’m leaning toward Humanities/Social Sciences, like CogSci or Psych?
