What Would Be a Good Percentage to Apply to Ivy Leagues With? (Canadian)

Hi, I’m a sophomore currently with a 93% average this year. In my freshman year I had a 87% average. I want to apply to ivy league schools or a good university in the states. What would be an ideal percentage or gpa to aim for? I know I did bad in the first year, that is why I need an idea of what to achieve.

There is no one number. If you go to a school like Upper Canada College, which sends several Each year to top schools, you’ll want to be top 5% of your class. If you go to an average public school, you’ll want to be top 1%. Scores will also be very important–2250 plus will put you in the running.

I was accepted to a number of American schools with a 94-96% in all three years of high school (public school in Alberta). Waverly is absolutely right though, its much more about class rank and SAT scores. Just based off of my personal experience and my friends who also applied to the States, I’d honestly say to aim for around 2300 on the SAT. Make sure you have good course rigour though, don’t take easy courses just to try to bring up your marks.
