What Would Be My Best College Plan?

Hello, I’ve been deciding on a few different colleges to attend for a Computer Science major. The colleges are as follows:

University of Washington,
University of Illinois at Urbana and Champaign,
University of Colorado Boulder,
University of Texas as Austin
University of Oklahoma (Father’s University, Probably can gain easy in state tuition first year);

I was late in my application process, so UW and UT:A are out for this year. My parents are not really for me going to Illinois as we have no family over there and work would be harder to find. Family is in Colorado and Oklahoma, though.

For both Washington and Texas, I was planning on moving to their state and gaining residency while entered in a community college for one year. I would then transfer to the “main” college of state for fall of 2014.

Illinois and Boulder still have their applications open. If I were to be accepted there, would it be a no-brainer to move there?

I would like comparisons of what plan would be considered 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Also, I’d like to know the ranking you would give my 5 colleges.

Thank you so much.

Be sure to read the residency rules for the various states. Many make the rules so that it is difficult for students to carpetbag their way into state residency.

What is your home state, and have you applied to its public schools? Have you check the net price calculators to see if you can afford the schools on your list as a non-resident?

This is an example of what ucbalumnus is talking about. Note that you will not be getting in-state rates for community college either.
