What would happen if I got in a fight in college?

I am not quite certain why, but I have always wondered what would happen if I got in a fight on campus. I am not planning on doing it of course.

I imagine campus security would call 911 and you could handle any legal issues from that point onward.

To be honest, it’s not something I’ve ever remotely considered. But, as an adult, it’s not about detention. It’s about assault.

My guess is that you’d regret it, whether it was handled off-campus by police or on-campus by a disciplinary hearing.

You could face criminal charges and/or disciplinary sanctions from your University.

Just like everyone else said, you’ll most likely get in trouble.

Now, if it’s private or somehow kept a secret, then you may or may not escape the possible consequences. Fights can happen anywhere, but at parties, they usually get broken up and people get kicked out.

Verbal or physical, try to avoid them at all costs. You don’t want your reputation to be negatively affected. You also may not want to be known as the “fighter” on campus.

As an adult, over the age of 18, you would be probably be arrested and may start a criminal record. Not a good idea if you ever plan on having career prospects.
