What would I qualify for?

Hey I am currently in 10th grade in GA.

I am trying to find out requirements for the presidential scholarship at UWG.

[University of West Georgia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](University of West Georgia - Wikipedia)

Any idea what they look for in a student for a presidential scholarship?

I currently have like a 3.5 GPA I can probably get it up to a 3.75 by the end of senior year. I also plan to be in over 5 clubs and have 250-300 community service hours by the end junior year. All honors classes and am taking 1 next year.

Please let me know of any requirements or any advice you have for me.

Thanks :)

Keep in mind that your ACT or SAT scores will really matter as well. AND, schools can change their scholarship req’ts. So whatever they offer now, may not be offered when you’re a senior.

Do your best…gradewise and testwise. Take both the ACT and SAT.

You’ll probably get HOPE, right?

Yes I will get Hope even though they are lowering the thing down to paying 90% of tuition but I was aiming higher for the presidential scholarship :frowning: Think I have a chance at all?

*Presidential Academic Scholarships

UWG awards several scholarships for students with outstanding academic credentials. The Honors College will invite students who are eligible for consideration for Presidential Scholarships. These awards are for $3,000 and $4,500 per year and are renewable for up to three additional years. To be considered, students must be accepted for admission by February 1, 2011. No further application for the scholarship is necessary.

*

Since this is an academic scholarship, it is going to depend largely on your test scores and GPA.

These are the scores of the “middle quartile” students…

Test Scores Middle 50% of First-Year Students

SAT Critical Reading: 450 - 530
SAT Math: 440 - 530
SAT Writing: 430 - 520
ACT Composite: 18 - 22

So, if you can have ACT and/or SAT scores that are much higher than those above, you’ll have a good chance.

Sent you a mail  Any other advise you(or anyone else) have(has) on to what I should take during highschool?

I am going to get a Foreign Language Seal and most likely an AP seal not very good but something I can put on an application.
