What would make a good gift for...

...An American history / govt./politics teacher?

...A physics teacher?

I need ideas! Not too expensive, but meaningful and at least somewhat practical gifts (for writing my college recs and also as end of the year gifts). What are some good books out there? For my history teacher who has an awesome sense of humor and is also a pessimist, I'd like something a bit on the quirky side. Are there any cool things out there for physics teachers (he likes to demonstrate physics principles to the class...any gadget out there he might be able to use for a future class?)

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I would make it something personal between the two of you. A prof of mine talked to be about his favorite micropipette. It was some crazy brand that they stopped making. I found one on ebay for cheep cheep and now it's proudly displayed in his office.

bump

(I'm trying to find something personal to both of us, but it's proving to be difficult.) I'll continue looking but any other ideas?
