So I want to go to Columbia but I feel as though I’m not doing everything I can so what else would oh do?? Not just Columbia but ever ivy.

Here is what I know to do:

SAT: 2300
SAT subject test: 800 in English, us history and math 1 nd 2

Volunteer: 300 hours-- I have about 150
Classes- maybe 6 AP (bio, chem, English, calc, Spanish, us history)
Self studied AP (phsycology, statistics, macroeconomics) hopefully I get 5’s

NYU pre college summer (2011) program- I already applied nd got in, waiting for scholarship

Columbia summer program (2012)
I want a study abroad program for 2013

I’m in public speaking club, volunteering is priceless, business club (I’ll be president of these clubs next year)
rutgers upward bound, college prep
Next year national honors society

Next year I’m doing tennis and softball (hopefully varsity)

I’m a writer so I’m trying to get a book published and some short stories published as well in magazines, and hopefully win some writing contest.

Also I’m looking for internships in marketing or publication (idk if I’ll find one because most are for college students)

Oh and P.S I’m number tiedwith my bestfriend for number 2 in our class (its between us who’s number 1) and also my unweighted GPA is 3.7 but after this year it’ll be about 3.9… Any advice is great and I’ll be greatful :)

Relax you’re just a sophomore, enjoy high school life. Anyway you seem very qualified, but admissions are very random, however I think you have a good chance.

Thank you guys for all your help and advice. I’m trying to get my book publish (cross ur fingers)

P.S innrcitypressure- I feel the same way when I read other people’s post. But u jut have to be confident and eagered. I’m sure your just as qualified as everyone else oh nd I’m not a genius just super ambitious

Honestly, you are on the right track. I got into both Columbia and Harvard for the Class of 2015, and you have WAY better stats than I did in sophmore year.

Keep up the amazing work. It’ll pay off.

And those essays… dont forget those essays.

There is nothing better and nothing worse than CC. I seriously underestimated my chances at top schools after mulling around chance threads too long. My best advice is to use CC sparingly and for specific advice (ie, SAT/AP prep) before second semester junior year.
