What would you do?

What would you do if you were too controling over your children?

If I knew I was too controlling I would change my behavior. If my kids told me I was too controlling I would examine my behavior and discuss it with them. This has happened and I’ve made a few changes. In other cases I’ve pointed out to my kids that they need to demonstrate they can handle some things on their own by their actions, not just by words. The problem is those who are actually too controlling aren’t likely to recognize it and may be resistant to change when it’s pointed out.

Are you a parent who knows they are too controlling or a young person who thinks their parents are too controlling? I think I know but just double checking.

I think most parents feel that they control their kids just the right amount. If it’s a lot, it’s for good reason; if not so much, it’s for good reason.
