Boston Dynamics is saying goodbye to this robot…
…to make way for this one.
With Boston Dynamics and Tesla working on humanoid robots(and dogs), the clock is ticking on many human jobs, but will AI humanoids eventually pose a threat to us all?

We (humans collectively) should be more afraid than we are. Maybe not in my lifetime, but I do think we are paving the way for our own extinction.
Evolution at work ?
I absolutely agree that we are paving the way for our own extinction. We’ve evolved to be really really smart; as a result, we’ve cured diseases that used to kill millions and figured out how to use and create things that pollute. Humans are only ~10,000 years old – literally a second of time in the length of the universe. We will become extinct, but the planet will continue. After we’re gone, the earth will repair itself, and after another 50 million or so years, maybe the dinosaurs or the humans will come back.
Humans are much more than 10,000 years old. Homo sapiens have been around about 300,000 years. You’re correct though about it being a “second in time”.
Our culture has allowed us to feed off of each other and quickly learn, grow and create fascinating technologies. Even with new technologies , eventually will have to give with a population of 8.1 billion and growing. We have most likely overpopulated the planet and will one day strip it of most of it’s resources. The population isn’t going to suddenly start shrinking and we keep making advances do people live longer and survive more threats.
We will certainly develop new technologies that will do most of our tasks for us. We’re already heading.there quickly. We’ll become more lazy. I don’t think it will actually improve society as a whole. Soon we will have computers controlling so many systems that there potentially will be a point that artificial intelligence will deem the human race as mostly a threat to the planet. It could get real interesting.
Perhaps a catastrophic event such as a very large meteor strike, the Yellowstone caldera explosion or a limited nuclear war will happen before things go much further and the world’s population will shrink and people will have to build up again. Some worldwide mass near extinction event is about the only thing that is actually going to slow this train down.and potentially keep robots from taking over.
LOL, you believe Musk’s nonsense…
Boston Dynamics continues to mock his fake robot:

Robotic functions are fine; isn’t the real concern the effect of AI (artificial intelligence) ?
I’m confused. Musk tried to slow down AI competitors by calling for a moratorium. Then set up his own AI company. So I’m not sure you can believe anything Musk says about AI concerns.
