What You Need in a Dorm @UCI?

This is the list created by Collegeboard
[Checklist for college dorm - first year of college](<a href=“College Board - SAT, AP, College Search and Admission Tools”>Campus Life – BigFuture | College Board)

Of all the items listed, what items do incoming freshmen need?

Hmm, skipping the common sense items…

-mini fridge
-small trash cans (plastic bags to go with)
-those clorox wipes
-paper towels
-brita filter
-stapler
-sticky notes
-paperclips
-umbrella
-laundry basket (detergent, fabric softeners)
-snacks (cup noodles, microwavable food, bars (cereal or granola), chips (french onion sun chips), cookies (from albertsons), etc. etc.

there are more but this is just off the top of my head that aren’t too intuitive

I would suggest a tool kit consisting of a hammer, maybe a few different sized screwdrivers so you will be able to put furniture together.

Make sure the Ethernet cable is at least 20ft long or invest in a wifi router. You also might want to think about bringing a bike. Also remember your moving into a blank dorm room, you might think about bringing things to decorate up the room.

I totally second the router @oiwioo
Try something really small like a pocket router - zuni connect makes one specifically for the dorms

If you want wireless internet in the residence halls, get a wireless access point instead of a router. You’ll have to disable dhcp on the router since automatically assigning an address to every device is already handled in the uci network. In other words, a router will just be functioning like an access point anyway.
