Please report back!

I do generally like the recipes from SkinnyTaste!

One of my sons got us a gift box from Butcher Box for Christmas. We used the sirloin tips a couple of days ago from the box to make beef stroganoff. Very tasty and we had it for two nights (stretched the recipe by adding fresh sliced mushrooms.

Two new-to-me recipes I made yesterday. Both highly recommended.

Savory granola (snack):

I’m intrigued by the granola recipe - love tahini! I currently make my own granola, but my recipe uses a sweetener (maple syrup).

My wife made this the other night (without the couscous, which I do not care for), and I was pleasantly surprised by it: https://www.ambitiouskitchen.com/harvest-couscous-salad/. She added crumbled feta cheese and dried cranberries as toppings.

I will definitely eat it again!

My problem is that I want to eat a lot of these, but I just don’t want to do the cooking part…

It’s supposed to snow here tomorrow afternoon, so I have all the ingredients for split pea soup. I’ll put them all in my crock pot in the morning and it will cook all day and the house will smell delicious (we love split pea soup). We have some nice cheese to go with this. It will be a delicious and warm dinner while it snows.

I haven’t had split pea soup in FOREVER. My mom used to make it and I liked it. H would NEVER eat it though he does like peas. Go figure.

What type of cheese do you eat with it??

I think we will have a couple of options. A cheddar and a Brie. And a nice baguette.

Can I have a once a week invite to your home for dinner?? :yum:

A friend had shoulder surgery and I brought over some comfort food (Baked Ziti). I made enough so that H and I could also have it for dinner. I used an Ina Garten recipe and made a few additions/changes. I used a mixture of ground beef (85% fat) and pork. I sautéed the pork/beef in half and half before adding the tomatoes. (I trick I learned from Marcella Hazan–the queen of Italian cooking IMO.) I also added a bit to wine to the tomato sauce. Finally, I added an egg to the ricotta and mozarella mixture. This is the recipe.

:blush:Would love a CC foodie rotating dinner club. I get so much inspiration from the many great cooks here.

I’m always trying to think of a way to have a CC get together - maybe we book a city food tour!

We are having chili at our house tonight. I made it, but it’s dh’s recipe. Very cold here! Wind chill was -1° this a.m.

Edit: Just realized this might spark a beans/no beans in chili debate. :grimacing:. Clearly, I’m in the, “with beans,” camp.

Chili looks delicious. Our split pea soup is almost done too!

I made Kansas City style Steak Soup last night. It’s actually ground beef, not steak, but it’s absolutely delicious and perfect for our below zero high temps.
