Whatcha Doin This Weekend?

Well currently I’m eating my breakfast shown below in my recliner. I did already run a fastish 11 miles and ride the bike for 30 min and some abs.

Last night we went to Golden Corral out of town for my FIL’s 90th bday. It was really good. I miss ours. They tore it down. Sunday, H is making me go to his friends Super Bowl party. I am NOT looking forward to it. I would much much much rather just snuggle in my recliner and watch it here. He promises just for an hour. I will walk home if he doesn’t keep his promise. (It’s only a mile.) and I skip the halftime show and don’t pay attention to the commercials. It’s all about the game for me, though I’m not sure who I’ll root for.

Interesting!

Sadly we postponed dinner plans with friends about 45 minutes north due to impending snowstorm. Tomorrow is Super Bowl!

In addition to remotely celebrating our son’s BD,* we’re going out to dinner tonight with a group of friends to say good-bye to one couple who are moving back to CA for a change of (non-weather) climate. Sunday, we’ll be eating junk food at a neighbor’s Super Bowl party. I don’t even know who’s playing, so I’ll just mingle for a bit and walk back home.

*S/DIL are going to see The Art of the Brick in DC today and a fancy dinner tonight. They crack me up with the Legos. Every Christmas, they get each other an intricate Lego kit. They’re still kids in so many ways.

My D and SIL would love Art of the Brick – they also do the huge Lego sets (Titanic, Orient Express, etc.).

Oh my goodness. Thanks for this! We have been to a small Lego thing near us, but H and I would love this and we were hoping to get up that way sometime in March. We are huge Legomaster fans! The stuff they build is so incredible.

Another couple of Legomasters fans here! What an awesome exhibit.

Obsessively checking FB to shoot down racist comments and provide facts on a FB events page (2 pages actually, one for the event and one planning a protest of the event) due to our local Republican Town Committee inviting two J6ers with known ties to alt-right groups to speak.
Tonight we were supposed to meet some friends half way for dinner (one hour for each of us), but the weather is supposed to be bad so we rescheduled. Ironically, we planned the meeting because DH decided we needed to actually get together with people rather than just exchange woeful or hair on fire posts about politics on FB. Now the four of us are spending a good part of today on FB over this issue.

Tomorrow morning and afternoon I will watch my husband obsess over the best time to go out to do the snowblowing. He’s not too excited about either team in the Superbowl and says he’s not going to watch, so it will just be a typical Sunday evening for us.

Sitting on my screen porch wearing a short sleeve shirt. It’s False Spring here in the South and I’m loving it.

Good morning from a Marriott hotel somewhere between Hartford and New Haven. It started snowing around Hartford en route from Concord, MA to Brooklyn and soon I was going 20mph–truly awful driving. So here I am. Not even free breakfast.

We took a trip this weekend to see LEO son receive some awards. Now we’re sitting in the airport waiting for our delayed flight to board.

We were supposed to have dinner out with friends last night. Weather interfered.
I was supposed to have a pickleball session this morning. Weather interfered. (Well, the session still happened, but with expected 15MPH winds I decided not to go).
I will likely sit on the sofa acting like I’m paying attention to some of the Super Bowl tonight while husband watches.

Fun Superbowl party! Great food and nice people, not too many. The only fly i the ointment was that the picture/audio kept glitching. Our friends thought it was their old TV, but it turns out it was an issue with Spectrum. Wow. We pay enough for that service!

We’ve returned to our regularly scheduled weather programming for the week :sob: glad we enjoyed the weather this past weekend. Getting ready to put on a fire this evening & curl up under a blanket with the dog and a good book.

2/15 - Dinner & Taylor Tomlinson Show
2/22 - Dinner & Mo Amer Show
3/1 - Dinner & David Nihill Show

We like comedians and they all decided to come in a 3 week span.

I love Taylor Tomlinson!

Lots going on in NYC. Although I didn’t make it to the big Lunar New Year parade yesterday in Manhattan’s Chinatown, here’s the amazing snake created by an adoptive parent. They lined up at PS130 where her kids and mine went to elementary school.

Then today was the March Against the Dictators, from Union Square to City Hall. I broke away from the large, chanting and sign-carrying crowd at Washington Square Park.

I’ve been resisting my normal desire to completely hibernate through this coldest winter I can remember. My “rule” is unless I have a really compelling reason to say no, when invited, I say yes. So, that means its been a more active February than normal for me.

Last week I went to our local Chabad’s Jewish women’s circle for a Tu BiShvat event…focaccia decorating! I had a chance to catch up with some women I haven’t seen in years, eat a delicious dinner and indulge my creative side. The finished product:

Then on Saturday I met up with a friend for an Orchid show, followed by a late lunch. It was lovely to be in a warm greenhouse enjoying the sights and smells of the flowers, and dreaming of warmer days ahead (as it snowed outside).

This weekend I’m attending a fundraiser on Friday night (Pocketbook Bingo) and going to lunch with my mother on Saturday.
