I know it’s different for everyone.

But I’m a bari-tenor, and I’m looking at Magic to DO from Pippin, Dancing Through life, and it takes two from hairspray.

Thanks,
Thomas

Tom – I would pick Magic to Do only because it’s less recent – the newer songs tend to get overdone. I would guess that It Takes Two would be particularly tired right now, because of the movie.

It really depends on the show you’re auditioning for since they’re fairly diverse songs. I would say sing whichever one you’re most comfortable doing and have the most fun singing.

However, in my personal opinion, “It Takes Two” is the best song of those three (though I’m not a huge Stephen Schwartz fan).

If this is for an MT or VP college audition? Take into consideration the ease/difficulty of the sheet music for the accompanist.

Good point – but all three of those songs have pretty reasonable piano parts.

All 3 pieces are reasonable pieces.

I’m leaning towards It Takes Two or Magic To Do, -I think It Takes Two might not be over-used because it wasn’t really in the movie. It’s also pretty baritone and I’m sort of sick which makes the high notes a bit strained.
