What's a better career path?

Option 1: Study pre-med at the University of Tennessee and be in a fraternity. (My major is still undecided) I know a lot of pre-meds major in Biology but if I don’t get accepted into medical school my major is pointless. I want a good paying major and a good back up plan.

or

Option 2: Major in petroleum engineering at LSU and be in a fraternity. Is petroleum engineering still a good career path to go into or would it be just as pointless as biology? Also what would the working hours be like? I would also like to still live in the great U.S. of A.

P.S. I live in Knoxville, Tennessee and I would use the academic common market to get instate tuition at LSU.

why do you have to be in a frat?

how is your question different than what you asked here?:
