whats a good rec?

<p>what exactly is concidered a stellar rec? is it necessary for someone to rank you in the class for it to be a good rec, or could just comments suffice? </p>

<p>for example, my lit teacher from last year was REALLY nice in my rec; he said that i was “a force of nature” and that he was convinced i didnt sleep etc. he spoke about my performance in class very generally though, and talked about me participating within a week of moving here from across the world. he didnt rank me though, or say that i was the best in the class etc, even though i did have one of the top two grades in the class. is this concidered a good rec?</p>

<p>I’d say any rec which reflects something special about you is a good rec. These schools get recs that say “the student is top in his class” by the truck-load. On the other hand, sincere recs which really show your passion for learning etc are scarce.</p>
