What's Applied Econ?

What’s the highest math that you cover? What is Applied Econ. and what do you learn? Just wanted to know because I saw it during the College fair as a featured major.

Thanks

It’s basically a business degree. Cornell has a degree called that. I think it’s because they don’t want to have an undergrad business degree, because that takes away from their prestigiousness. I may be wrong though.

Penn has an undergrad business degree, and I hear it’s pretty prestigious. ;)

Why is offering an undergrad business degree seen as something that diminishes prestigiousness?

Well right, i’ve always wondered that. But why does Stanford and Harvard, who have the top two grad schools for MBA’s, not have undergrad programs? I’ve never understood it. NOTHING MAKES SENSE DANGIT! Haha.

This could be a reason “…because they want the future business leaders to focus on a broad range of topics in the liberal arts and sciences. Just like how one cannot major in medicine or law as an undergraduate, one can usually not major in business because one needs the general undergraduate background to support the business curriculum at the graduate level.”

Or something similar. That was told to me by a former professor of mine who got his Ph.D in Econ from Stanford.

Hmm could be a reason. If I get accepted to Stanford, i’m totally going and studying econ. My mom wants me to do pure business… but i’d prefer econ.

im majoring in applied eco. they say it has more math subjects than the usual

https://webapps-prd.oit.umn.edu/programCatalog/viewCatalogProgram.do?programID=197&strm=1109&campus=UMNTC

why does this only require short calculus or calc 1? Is it because it is applied econ of food?

What’s difference between a BS and BA. Saw Econ BA and BS? Sorry I am a hs Junior so this is all new to me.
