What's for dinner at your house tonight?

SO glad I just read this! Old Bay on grilled sweet potatoes? That’s a winner already! Gotta try it! Our fresh flounder was great too!

Will try that Beil!!!

For an appetizer for the football game yesterday, I made bacon-wrapped shrimp. It couldn’t be easier:

peel a raw shrimp

sprinkle with Old Bay

wrap half a piece of bacon around it, secure with toothpick

bake on a rack on a foil-covered tray at 400 degrees until the bacon is crisp.

Maybe not the healthiest, but… shrimp. And bacon.

I love Old Bay.

What does Old Bay consist of?

The ingredient list reads:

celery salt (salt, celery seed), spices (including mustard, red pepper, black pepper, bay (laurel) leaves, cloves, allspice [pimento], ginger, mace, cardamom, cinnamon), and paprika

It’s made by McCormick.

It’s good on popcorn, french fries, eggs, lots of things.

Spinache and mushroom quiche.

Wow, all these healthy meals. Last night H wasn’t going to be home for dinner, and D wanted pizza…so we had Domino’s delivered. They have a veggie pizza that sounded good, but wasn’t so great, plus didn’t go with my plan to be dairy free…Why did I do that?! I just really hate to cook. I love to look up recipes. Lots of things sound good, and I really want to be more consistent in having healthy meals. Someday there will be a system where you just put in the recipe that looks good, and out will come the meal, all prepared (ala Star Trek replicators). I look forward to that
BTW the grilled sweet potatoes sound great! On of my favorite memories from camping was campfire baked sweet potatoes…the roasted marshmallow on them didn’t hurt either ;-). Roasted sweet potatoes with just a little olive oil is good too!

Last night I fixed deer steak, steamed fresh green beans, corn on the cob, watermellon. It was good, and healthy, but it’s a drag to come home from work and have to cook. I’d rather eat out - I tell hubby that if we eat out, we will save on the “grocery money”. Ha! He really doesn’t see the logic in that. There is no logic in that. Just being funny and not wanting to cook.

Sheesh! I forgot to get anything out of the freezer! I’ll have to figure something out …

I grilled blue cheese bacon burgers last night, but wow was it hot out. I just made ham sandwiches on Rosen’s thin slice rye for breakfast, chopped carrots and cucumbers for lunch (h’s), and am thinking that cooking on hot days is unfun.

Boneless pork chops with bbq sauce.

Grilled pork tenderloin, steamed green beans with lemon and almonds and roasted sweet potatoes.

roast beef, yorkshire pudding, steamed vegetables and gravy. My favorite

Besides popsicles?
I have to admit, H & I take advantage of not having kids here. We had popsicles for an appetizer, beefalo burgers (H ate cookies until those were ready), with grilled corn.
I put lime juice & old bay on my corn, H likes lots of butter.

I want to try this dog toy made out of sweet potatoes.

Roasted pork tenderloin, rotated potatoes, and green beans.

For those pizza lovers: this is my easy crust recipe.

1/3 cup warm water
1package yeast stirred into water
1 tablespoon oil
2cups flour, stir in as much as you can and knead in the rest

Let it rise 30 minutes or so ( I heat the oven to 200 degrees, shut it off, and put the dough in)

This makes a regular pizza pan thin crust. Add whatever toppings you want.

3bm103, that sounds like Christmas to me. :)

I am still eating leftover grilled shrimp. Made peach salsa and a black bean, corn, etc salad. DH can have it on a tortilla; mine will be on greens. (See the losing ten pounds thread . . .) And some really nice local melon.

Pork tenderloin is the greatest thing. Did I just miss it or was it not widely available in 1985? I often think about the variety of foods we have to work with now, compared to when we were first learning to cook.

It’s 95 degrees out. Dinner will be a BLT on thin fresh bread and a fruit smoothie because that’s what sounds good!!!

Trying my hand at sausage and peppers on poor boys topped w mozzarella and onions…we’ll see

We had rotisserie chicken from Costco last night so I was looking for another meal out of it tonight. D thought chicken Parmesan sounded good but wasn’t sure how I could do that with rotisserie and still give her a little of the breaking she wanted . Found this recipe and it was pretty darn good!!!

Well, it has cooled off a bit since grilling season. Tonight I am making ground turkey BBQ.
