What is the feeling out there about Penn’s tendency to “clean house” with regards to their rowing staff? Is this a trend at this school?
I don’t know if if it’s a tendency–new AD wants to upgrade the programs. New women’s coach Wesley Ng has run a highly successful program at Trinity and has a great rep. New guy on the men’s side has had a more interesting last few year’s, and looks to be more risky choice.
just that my son has Penn as top choice but Im weary of him committing to a school that has so much turnover…
I would think a new AD would give his new coaches at least 4 years before replacing them.
You’d think…
And my son said the heavies both women and men’s had decent showings. It’s not uncommon in the world of collegiate rowing to have this musical chairs but it seems to be more common at Penn.
That’s why, in part, I’ve told my son not to get too attached to any coaches he’s met along the way…
The new AD at Penn has certainly made some changes. We’ll know over the next couple of years if they were good changes or bad. Given where some of the programs started, there’s a pretty good chance they will be good. More success with athletics will be good for Penn.
