What's it like to get into HYPS or any other ivy league?

I just want to ask a few questions to the HYPS alumni, or even some ivy league alumni.

  1. Were you expecting admission?
  2. What’d you do in high school to achieve it?
  3. Did you stress about school constantly?
  4. Were you valedictorian or salutatorian?
  5. Sports, ECs, etc.?
  6. Did you go to private or public school?
    I’m just curious, and I hope to find some inspiration from your answers.

when I say expecting admission, I mean were you or were you not surprised when you got in?

  1. Unless one is a fac brat or recruited admission, no sane person should
  2. Pursued the most rigorous courseload w/o regard to how it "looked". And mostly As in them
  3. Not whatsoever
  4. Not whatsoever
  5. Avg ECs, Asian leader in mostly black school. Worked jobs
  6. Public -- but this is irrelevant
