haha…yea, jym626 posted the article this morning…

Oops, sorry to double post. But reading this does make me wonder what ELSE is happening on campuses that we don’t hear about.

There is so much talk on CC about preparing for and applying to college, and the focus is so often on crafting these flawless, application-worthy pre-college lives, that I think we sometimes lose sight of the fact that the world beyond the college gates is rife with imperfections.

This story, on the surface, is amusing. In my college era, eons ago, students would have probably shrugged and figured that the prof was tripping on LSD or perhaps protesting anything from the war in Vietnam to some new administrative edict on campus.

But, in today’s climate, it’s more likely that this poor guy is unwell or was just suffering from the stress of having to piece together a living in a tough economy.

Ever since the Virginia Tech tragedy, faculty (more than ever before) have been told to look for signs of mental health problems in their students. But students probably rarely think to look for these same issues in their teachers.

Tuition increases. That’s basically it.

In my dorm, however, there’s a been a rash of crimes where people aren’t locking their doors and people are coming in and stealing their stuff. The RAs are advising people to not only lock their doors, but close their blinds as well.

Yeah i know stuff gets stolen all the time in dorms. I wonder why people still leave their doors unlocked. I think to you should get a safe and get a sercruty cable for anything else thats too big to put in your safe like the tv, your computer, and your guitar and bike. And some people should put a lock on the refrigerator door so people dont steal your food.
Nothing really happens at my school like teachers taking off their clothes. I wonder if someone got a pic?

Lame article. We’ve got a teacher currently awaiting trial for murder, top that.

^A few years ago one of our professors allegedly beat a prostitute across the face with a belt (and said prostitute was a female student at the law school). He ended up with 12 months probation and still teaches here.

Not sure if that tops murder but it is certainly interesting!

Kids getting hit by a bus or car cause they don’t know how to cross the streets properly.

WE’RE GOING TO THE ROSE BOWL!

That’s what everyone’s talking about, hahahaha!

:D

Ah yeah, placing third in the ACC and getting the Military Bowl simply because we had low ticket sales. College football can be a real ****ing joke sometimes.

I think our computer science team just beat Stanford which is kind of ****ing incredible when you consider the caliber of students at CSU Chico

All these attempted armed robberies on campus.

One of our profs is in a pile of **** for saying that Obama should hire someone to assassinate Julian Assange lol.

Wouldn’t know, I’m on winter break :D

A student was just involved in a car accident and killed a 2-year-old girl, and the mother is still in a coma. She was on her cell phone while driving, but it’s also a really dangerous intersection and it was at night.

^ …which is why she shouldn’t have been on her cell phone

Still, really tragic :(

^Yes, but there have also been tons of complaints over the years from both students and community numbers about that street and there are close calls there all the time…not strictly her fault.

I’m just saying that if you know you’re going to be driving through a dangerous intersection at night then don’t talk on your phone. Or if you’re even just going to be driving at night.

wouldn’t be surprised if she was speeding too

And drunk! Don’t forget drunk!
