Do top colleges like cornell care more about individual sat scores or the total composite score? With the Jan and Nov sat, I got a 2170 super score (770m 770w 630r) but my reading score is like either not in range or at the lowest range for top 25 schools and my writing and math are in the 75th percentile for some. Thankss
reading and math are more important than writing. also your scores should not be more than 100pts apart.
Actually Cornell is one of those schools which only looks at the M and R only.
FakeCat, There is no indication that a 100 point discrepancy between subscales is an issue
Reading is generally regarded as important; writing is often not counted, while math is important, but high math scores are not as exceptional. If you have time to take another test, I would aim for at least a 700 in reading (710 would bring you to 2250, which is also an unofficial benchmark for many people [though I don’t know how admissions regards it.]).
From where to know Cornell only looks at SAT R&M? I got 2300, R800, M780, W720. Does it mean I do not have to worry my low writing score?
