UW is my dream school. I wasn’t accepted this past spring for autumn 2013 but I still want to try to transfer from WWU to UW autumn 2014. What steps can I take to give me my best shot at transferring?

First which UW are you referring to, UDub?

Most likely your best help will come from your advisor at WWU, as they will have the most experience with students transferring from there to UW.

Yes, UDub Seattle! I’ve tried talking with advisors from UW but all they’ve really told me is that I don’t have a very good chance of transferring. Do you suggest asking my WWU advisor how to best prepare to apply for a transfer?

Since your advisor isn’t too helpful (not unusual unfortunately ;)), start here, and do some homework:

[Transfer Students | University of Washington](Transfer | Office of Admissions)

The worksheets, transfer credit, distribution requirements, competitive major (if applicable), and personal statement will be particularly important in preparing to transfer. If you have further questions, then ask your advisor. Most public colleges will look more at your college coursework and gpa than your ECs.

I know Bellingham is great, but is there a possibility of attending a CC instead? The Goals and Priority section states that preference is given to applicants with an AA degree.
