So, I have officially applied regular decision to Yale, and I’m wondering what my chances of acceptance are.
ACT Composite: 35 Math: 35 Reading: 35 Science: 34 Writing: 32

GPA: 4.0611 Class Rank: 1/63

I am a National Merit Semi-Finalist

-I am a four-time state qualifier for swimming, and I have received numerous all-conference awards, as well as All-State Honorable Mention. I was co-captain of my team this year.
-I also participate in soccer, band, Madrigal Consort, Solo/Ensemble, and our school musical.
-During my junior year I was part of a selective leadership program. Through that, I helped coordinate a Suicide Awareness Movie Night and a Suicide Awareness 5k Walk.
-I am a member of Key Club, National Honor Society, Recycling Club, International Club (Vice-President), Chemistry Club (Co-President).
-I volunteer at the local hospital, and I have volunteered at a swim camp and church.
-I also teach swimming lessons at the local YMCA.

So, what are my chances? Also, are there any other regular decision applicants out there? :)

Your chances are the same as anyone else’s. You definitely have a shot/are in fine academic shape, but it really is a crapshoot for anyone. I don’t think anyone on this board (unless they’re an admissions officer at Yale) is qualified to tell you whether or not you’ll get in. Good luck though!! I’m sure you’ll get in somewhere awesome :)

Pretty much what ohreally877 said. I feel like the athletics are going to help a lot, congrats on being a four-time state qualifier!

I feel like a lot of the time, it just comes down to how you portray yourself on the essays and the people who read the application. Just know that if you don’t get in, it wasn’t meant to be.

Waiting til April is going to be ridiculous, I know how you feel.

Something doesn’t add up. Your composite should be 34 based on those scores. With that being, said you have a decent chance but the RD acceptance is less than 6%. Your essays will play a big part in increasing your chances. My son was waitlisted and eventually accepted off the waitlist with similar stats. He scored better in Science, Reading, and English and slightly lower in Math (35 composite). His GPA was higher as well (around 4.3).
