What's my chance?

I know this is asked a whole lot, but ya know just gotta ask.

So. I’ve been thinking about Harvard/Princeton. A lot of people have been trying to encourage me, but I’m not so delusional to fully accept it because I’m a late bloomer. I’m a junior who will be taking my SATs next month, but so far from practice SATs and my PSAT, I will probably be getting a 1900-2100.

My overall GPA is 3.4 (I know, it’s very very very low for an ivy, which is why I don’t think I can get in.)

I’ve taken 4 AP tests and I while be taking two more next year.

I’ve taken 3 Dual-Credit courses and will be taking more during the Summer.

As for EC, I founded the first junior membership chapter of the Legion of Mary, a community service organization, in all of central texas. My chapter has an accumulation of 1000 community service hours, and my own community service is over 300 hours. I also started a committee for the coordination of the devotion of Vespers in my parish. I am an altar server, a lector and an extraordinary minister of communion.

I am a member of the NHS, and last year I was the VP of our chapter.

I went to Turkey for a month, living with a host family to learn the language better.

I have a short story published in a local anthology.

My ambition is to become a priest, although I hope someday to build a Catholic-based faith community centered around a parish which provides services, housing and education for residents.

I am Mexican American from the state of Texas, and I attend a “miracle” charter school.

My school counselor doesn’t seem to be giving me the real scoop. I think none of those really qualify me. Please be blunt.

Most of your EC’s are religion based, I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Also that GPA is very low like you pointed out. If you have a 3.4 GPA and a 1900-2100 SAT + your ec’s, your chances are very slim. That SAT score alone is way to low for Ivy.

Mexican = possibility, though not very likely

Even as an URM, I think chances are slim. You should focus on schools that are closer to your stats.

Even applicants w/ URM status must have higher GPA…
no chance…

thank you very much, guys.

I truly appreciate the honesty.

You could probably get a full ride at Catholic University of America in DC. Wouldn’t that be a good thing?
