Potter star Emma Watson to transfer from Brown.
So… wonder why she would want to leave, and where will she transfer to?
Curious - as the reason stated originally was that she had too many other “projects” but if she is transferring than surely that isn’t the reason?

That surprises me. I just read an interview with her a couple weeks ago talking about how much she loved Brown and would be returning after she finished promoting Harry Potter. Maybe she’s just transferring someplace more convenient for her work? Or maybe she isn’t really transferring.

Here’s the article :LONDON (AP) A spokeswoman for Harry Potter star Emma Watson says she will be transferring from Brown University to another university in the autumn.

Vanessa Davies denied reports that the 21-year-old actress was “bullied out” of the Rhode Island university, saying there was no truth in reports by a number of online publications who cited classmates and “insiders”.

Davies said Saturday that Watson, who plays Hermione in the wizard movie series, has decided to pursue a different course not offered at Brown.

She added that the star “has absolutely loved her time at Brown” and made many good friends there.

Watson has recently taken time out of her studies to focus on her movie career. She has said that her first days in college were difficult.

Davies did not identify the university Watson will be transferring

guess here:

NYU
Yale

Rumor/speculation online…says she may be headed to NYU/Gallatin, and was spotted touring the school recently with administrators. This is not fact, mind you.

Funny if she goes from one of my D’s schools to the other D’s school. :)

It would not surprise me if Emma goes to Gallatin as it allows a student to design their own course of study and there is more flexibility and this young woman has a career that is in gear and being in NYC might let her continue her studies while staying active in her career. For example, Dakota Fanning is heading to NYU/Gallatin in the fall.

My D had a friend at NYU/Tisch (which is not flexible) in Drama, who got cast in an Off Broadway play and she switched into Gallatin as it allowed her to stay in school, while working professionally.

So no predictions that she will go to a British University?
I think that’s where she is headed!

Oxford or Cambridge maybe, or possibly St.Andrews ?

I’ve heard strong rumors that it’s NYU. The Brown Daily Herald seems to think so, at least.

I read an interview of hers as to why she was currently on a break from Brown and it had to do with being busy with professional obligations that interfered and she didn’t want her academic experience to suffer. Perhaps being in NYC or in a more flexible program like Gallatin, might be beneficial to the balance she wants to achieve.

V.unlikely because there is no concept of transfer in the UK. She would have to start again at the beginning (and the application deadline for 2011 admission has already passed for UK students).

But she would need to do only 3 years at Oxford or Cambridge. True that they don’t do “transfers” but would she really be treated just like any other student?

^I would guess at least in terms of her degree requirements, yes. I would hope so.

I feel like she would have to be very unhappy here to derail herself enough to go back on her decision to attend school in the US altogether to go back to the UK, and I would imagine she is fairly well adjusted to being here because of her work. I’d really be surprised of she went to the UK for that reason, though they’re great schools. :P

I think that after she cut her hair, the number of males who care where she goes is pretty tiny.

^Which is gross, since she only stopped looking like an 11 year old when she cut it.

Maybe that’s why she cut it.

I thought the hair cut looked nice, I was jealous I couldn’t pull off something like that. I read that she’s dying for it to grow back now.

I agree that cutting her long hair did indeed detract from her looks a lot (this is true for most young women, especially if they cut it as short as Emma did). But when you are as famous and rich as Emma Watson, I bet a lot of college guys would still be thrilled to get a date with her even if her head were shaved.

I don’t think her shorter hair detracts from her looks. I think she just looks different and older and more sophisticated than when she had long hair. I imagine many young men would find her quite attractive. She’s going to be modeling for Lancome with this short hairdo.

Here are some photos with her short hair where I think she looks VERY attractive:

My my…never knew that there were so many inquiring minds here. Insert smiley face.

She went from looking like an 17 year old girl to an 11 year old boy. I don’t see how it’s relevant what heterosexual women think about the attractiveness of her haircut.
